At the end of Eclipse, Jacob runs away. Sam thinks it's only temporary; anyone would be upset if the girl they loved was getting married to someone else. But Sam feels that something else is wrong with Jacob. And Sam is right. After a long “Jacob Rescue Mission” the Quileute wolves pester Jacob into telling them what’s wrong. Reluctantly, Jacob tells his wolf friends that Bella is getting married to the bloodsucker, Edward, and will be bitten shortly after.
Sam and the other Quileutes become upset, not only are the Cullen’s breaking the treaty, but they’re going to bite Bella of all people.
And so, the Quileute wolves declare war on the Cullens for breaking the treaty, and Bella is torn between two sides. She loves Edward, but how can she give up her ‘friendship’ with Jacob?
Meanwhile, as the fight between the two sides rages on, Bella is determined to get all of her loved ones out of the town in case something gets out of hand. She’s thankful that Angela and Ben are on vacation, and Jessica is away checking out her new College. The only problem for Bella is that her mother, Renee, is coming in to Forks early to be with Bella one last time before she goes off to get married. This frightens Bella, of all people, her mother is the last person she wants to get hurt.
In addition to Renee and Phil coming to Forks for the wedding, the Denali vampires, the only other coven of vegetarian vampires besides the Cullens, are also in for the wedding early. But their reason is much different than Renee and Phil’s. The Denali vampires have heard of the broken treaty through Carlisle, and have come down to fight against the werewolves too.
With the wedding just weeks away, will Bella and Edward have to postpone it? And what’s going to happen about the fighting? Will it go so far that someone will get hurt, or worse, killed?

The rhythmic sound of his feet hitting the ground was the only thing to be heard for miles. He was alone to an extent of insanity, accompanied by a blanket of silence. Even self induced solitary could drive one to the edge. He just needed time to think, about everything. Though to his utter annoyance his thoughts always went back to the same person; Isabella Swan. The last thing he wanted to do was put her through any pain, and hurting Jacob would hurt her. Yet the war had been declared so he had to do something, though it didn’t exactly make him sleep any better. What was he thinking? He didn’t sleep, so why did he care whether or not he lost sleep over the werewolves who took the first move in the war?
Because, if only for now Bella still has to sleep with my decisions. He ran his fingers through his hair, letting out an exaggerated breath. Something he would have to learn to regulate these days would be just that; breathing. He either breathed too heavily or he didn’t breath at all, no medium seemed to appear for him. The stupid pack with their stupid agenda. It was Bella choice; they couldn’t stop her from her own happiness. That would be cruel and irrational on their parts. They didn’t own anyone around her; they couldn’t pretend to rule the world because they didn’t. Intelligent minds can make their own decisions and though Bella didn’t always realize it her mind was priceless.
He kicked a small pebble far enough, not remembering to be careful with his own strength. Another thing that worried him; the promise he made to Bella. She was still going to be fragile and he was going to have to take every precaution if he went through with it. There was no if about it tragically though, he had given his word. A wedding and a wedding night, both were going to be rather complicated things. It didn’t matter though he thought triumphantly because Bella will always be right there with me.
He felt calm, if only for one blissful moment. He turned on his toes resolved to walk back to the house and sit down with his family and talk about their options. It was a rather horrible way of thinking about it but at this moment everything was going to be injure or get injured, kill or be killed. His main motive was always going to be keeping Bella safe though, his every thought was about Bella, and all his actions were going to be taken to keep her safe.

It had been a long day...an extremely long day. Aston's red eye flight had gotten in at nearly three this morning; usually she would have decided to sleep all day, but she had needed to go shopping and get some clothes from the town so she would fit in better. Of course, she would look a little odd if she showed up for her first day of school in a pair of Giorgio Armani slacks, a Dolce Gabbana blouse, and a pair of Prada pumps. She had been to several place: Port Angel, Seattle, and had barely enough to compare to her current wardrobe. But she had gotten the necessities, a couple pairs of shoes, some jeans, some cute shirts, a rain jacket, a blazer, and a leather jacket. At least she would fit in some.
She had been in Olympic Outfitters for a few hours, and was now heading back to her back to her black Aston Martin DBS parked on the curb. Several bags were on her arms, just a few things in it. She went to search for her keys in her pockets, trying to do so without dropping her bags. Finally finding them, she popped the trunk and dropped her bags into the trunk.
Just as she turned around, she was someone coming up the sidewalk. She was so used to living in big cities, where everything should be taken as a threat, and held her keys in her hands in case there was the need to use them as a weapon. She simply watched the man coming closer towards her, but pretending as if she didn't notice. She shifted a few things in her trunk, trying to find room for it all to fit.
