It was beautiful outside, or at least, as beautiful as a day could be in the woods in a town where rain and cloudy skies were mostly all one saw. While most people walked in the woods to enjoy this beauty, Bella was too busy cursing a hidden stone, which had nearly managed to make the poor girl trip, to really take notice. If one saw Bella, they would wonder why someone who was such a klutz would even think about taking a stroll through the woods. Bella was the exact opposite of an outdoors girl. It wasn’t that she didn’t try; it was just that the outdoor world seemed to have it out for her. Having only been in the woods for at least half an hour, she had already managed to fall at least ten times, one of them resulting in what would surly be a bruise on her lower arm.
So why, was someone like Bella, walking around in the woods? The answer was simple really. It was the only place that she was able to think. At home, there was always something to distract her thoughts, making her worry about things that no normal teen would have to. In the woods though, it was easier to ignore the nagging of said worries and she was able to have some time to herself. In the past week, taking a walk in the woods had become a ritual oh hers. They wouldn’t last long, only a hour at the most, except when she got lost, which sadly tended to happen more than the teenager liked to admit. Now though, she was smart and carried her cell phone with her, a promise to Edward that she would call him every so often to let him know she was fine. Staying on the path also helped in the not-getting-lost department.
Pulling out her cell phone from her pocket once more, she checked the time, wishing that she had a map as well something that measured how far she had walked. Bella had a feeling that she had made some great distance and knew that she would have to turn back soon if she was to make her schedule time. Letting out a small sigh, Bella prepared herself for the walk back when something caught her attention. It had sounded like a voice, though that was hard to tell with the way it seemed to echo off the nearby trees. Slowly turning back the way she had came, she made her way to where she had heard it, curiosity pushing all logic out of her mind. It didn’t take her long to see what had caused the noise, the sight making Bella freeze on spot.
There, standing not far ahead of her, leaning against a tree, was none other than Jacob Black. He was only clothed in shoes and a pair of jeans, a state that she had gotten used to seeing him in. However, this didn’t stop the lump of mixed emotions that she couldn’t even name from forming in her throat. Bella was at a lost of what to do, wishing that she could just approach him like old times. That would be impossible though and Bella began to contemplate turning around. What stopped her was closer inspection of her old friend. He seemed to be upset about something and even though Bella could guess what it was, it didn’t stop her from wanting to help in some way. Taking a breath, Bella tried to get rid of the lump the prevented any form of speech to be made possible.
“Jacob?”

said Jacob, twisting it into a question tone of the one word that stung as he said it himself. He cleared his throat adding, Wh, What you doing here? His voice was betraying his cool features on his face. He folded his arms across his bare chest, waiting for an answer that would come from her. Right now he felt numb, this wasn’t suppose to be the awkward in the reunion that they would have. With the war between the leeches and the werewolves, this almost to be fretting with the enemy a bit. No, Bella was not her enemy nor the pack’s, she was just the less fortune one to be stuck between two creatures that wanted to see the other dead. His body inhaled, exhaling out loud as he stood his ground. He wished that he could lessen the distance between him and her, yet his body just stood there as if his feet had roots that grew down deep within the earth. ooc: excuse the short post [/ul]

For a while, all Bella could do was stare wide eyed at the figure in front of her. He seemed so different from the last time that she had seen him. Granted, he had been badly injured, but the Jacob that was in her memory was completely different from this one. The one in her memory was always happy, always smiling and cracking jokes that could make Bella smile, even when she was annoyed at the world. This Jacob though seemed almost to be a new person, with his sad eyes and breaking voice. It was enough to make Bella want to close the distance between them and hold on to him. Without realizing it, her body began to take a step forward before Bella came back to reality and stopped herself. As much as it pained her to think about it, she knew there was no way she could help him. It soon registered to Bella that he had asked her a question, one that she had yet to answer.
“Oh, I was just taking a walk for some alone time.” The words came out sounding small, making Bella feel as if she was once again a shy five year old. She hoped that they had sounded better to his ears than to hers, though she severely doubt it, what with him having better hearing.
“How are you feeling, since…” Bella didn’t manage to finish her sentence as a memory of an injured Jacob, lying on his bed with a quilt wrapped over his body. It had managed to hide the injuries from Bella’s eyes, but that didn’t mean that that site wasn’t one of her worst fears come to life.
ooc: Don't worry about it. Mine isn't that long either.

Jacob started, he let a hand comb his glossy hair as he spoke. The Blo...Dr. Fang did his job. It's as if it didn't happen. his voice dimmed at the end. It could of had a double meaning, but it was too late to change his words now. He'd just hope that she wouldn't twist it into something else in its meaning within her mind. To him, the incidents felt like ages ago since she visited him shattered as he was physically, yet the pain felt like it was just yesterday, not to mention the seclusion he took upon his shoulders after his body healed completely. That doctor just forgot stitches for his heart. Jacob blinked as his hand fell back down to his side. Suddenly ease came to him as if he walked into an open aired room from such a stuffy and claustrophobic area. He was thinking too much, he had finally seen Bella for the first time in his return. He wasn't going to wage battle inside him of his emotions right now. Perhaps it was her that gave him comfort; she was his sun today as if it radiated from her skin. Jacob took another step forward just to position himself just a bit closer to her, yet to him, that wasn't enough, but you can't get everything that you want. Jacob should know that already. Placing his arms across his chest again, he leaned once again on the supporting tree, yet his body still completely squared to Bella. What about you? How did Charlie react when you told him about the wedding, did he try to ground you? joked Jacob as he flashed a grin that displayed his white teeth. No matter of what the conversation was, if it was with Bella, he couldn't help but not to smile once. Even though this matter of the wedding just made his blood boil. In his heart, he wasn't worried about Charlie's reaction, he just wanted to steer away from anything that would bring up the word Cullen in the talk, but of course, the wedding wasn't helping the idea at all. Jacob was over thinking and just landed him into a deep hole. Jacob's gaze trailed to her as his brown eyes soaked up her presence even though his face did look like a wreck from the lack of sleep. It did embarrass him a bit, knowing full well that a comment from her about his state would come up. His appearance was the only thing he couldn't hide. [/ul]

“Well someone has to worry.” Bella said jokingly, despite the fact that Jacob’s words were most likely true. Now when she thought back on the things that had passed the previous months, most of her senior year of high school had been taken up by worry. Whether it was over the Volutri, werewolf vs. vampire related things, or even just normal school. Alice had been right to tease her about getting wrinkles early, which now seemed unlikely due to the events that were going to take place.
It was strange, how in one moment, Jacob could seem to go back to the way he used to be. It surprised her to see this change so quickly even though she should have known better. This was Jacob, the teenage boy who could make a joke or comment out of anything. Without even realizing it, Bella felt the corner of her lips turn up into a small smile, as if Jacob’s mood was contagious.
“What about you? How did Charlie react when you told him about the wedding, did he try to ground you?" Jacob asked, the question taking Bella slightly of guard.
“I'm sure he would have if it would have done anything." Bella replied, her voice taking the same joking tone as before." In all fairness, it went better than I thought that it would. It took a while to convince Charlie that I wasn’t joking.” Bella said, her right hand subconsciously playing with the ring on her ring finger, twisting and turning it. She could still remember her fathers face when she and Edward had announced the news. As always, they found him sitting in the living room, his eyes glued to what ever sport event happened to be on the television at that moment. After taking a few deep breaths, Bella finally gathered up some courage and told her father. Charlie had been so silent and still that Bella had thought that the shock had killed him. Waiting for it to sink in was one of the most nerve wreaking times in her life.
Like most fathers put in the situation of ‘young and only daughter getting engaged’, Charlie was quick to jump on the mind set that it was a joke. After both her and Edward talked to Charlie for what seemed like ten minuets, they were finally able to make his see that they were serious. While all this was taking place, Bella had made sure to watch her father carefully for any sign that he would explode. There were times that she thought that he was close, but he always managed to hold back. She knew that he was doing his best to keep to his word of not being so hard on Edward, and she was extremely grateful for that. It would have been a disaster trying to tell Charlie when he was still angry.
“Oh, and Renee and Phil are coming up early.” Bella added, not knowing why she felt the need to disclose such information. Truth be told, she was excited to see her mother, even if dread that her mother would somehow get involved in this so called ‘war’ was greatly combined with it. Running a hand through her long hair, Bella studied Jacob more closely, now that she was able to see him better. While he could change his emotions, this did nothing to hide his appearance and now that Bella had more time to study him, she could note how tired he looked. How she hadn’t noticed it before was beyond her.
“You look tired. Have you been patrolling late again?” She asked, curiously. The last time she had seen him look so haggard, it was from his extreme lack of sleep during the newborn situation. She knew there might be the chance that other things were involved in why he looked so fatigued, but that was the risk that came with asking the question.
