The small town of Forks Washington has been caught up in a whirlwind of motion ever since three months ago when the Cullens and the Quileutes banned together to defeat the deadly newborn army lead by Victoria. News of Bella's engagement has been all over town, and bright but delicate invitations have been mailed to a few select participants. Charlie, of course, nearly had an aneurysm the moment his daughter broke the news to him, but luckily for the both of them Alice had been there to calm him down. As much as he disliked Edward, he knew that his daughter was happy with him -- and at least she was telling him about it instead of running away to Vegas. His initial instinct, of course, had been to ground her for life and forbid Bella from seeing Edward, but his head-strong daughter had been clear that she would end up with Edward one way or another. It was only after some convincing from both Bella and Alice that Charlie agreed that the marriage was inevitable, and that at least this way he could be part of it. Renée was just as, if not more, against the marriage as Charlie was. When Bella and Edward had visited her in Florida, she couldn't help but be fearful of their obvious obsession with each other. She knew just how wrong a young marriage could go, but also knew that no amount of pleading or arguing would sway Bella. Even though the two were obviously far too serious with each other, Renée couldn't help but admit that there was something very mature about their relationship... Nothing like the one she had had with Charlie.
Preparations for the wedding have been occupying most of the Cullen's time, particularly Alice. She has been in charge of almost everything -- from Thlights, to food, to flowers. Naturally the wedding would be held in the vast Cullen yard, and the reception would be beneath vast white canopies strewn about the backyard. Occasionally Bella would have to reign Alice in a bit, but that could hardly stop her from going overboard. Alice's intense focus on the wedding plans have been distracting her from the visions she would be having if she were paying attention... The visions including the blood-thirsty Maria, making her move west as the Volturi plan to pay the Cullens another visit. While the festivities involved with planning a wedding were cheery and bright, Edward has been silently brooding over the moment they would say their "I Do"s and he would have to change her... There were so many things about humanity that he had missed out on, and he couldn't bear the thought of Bella missing out on them just for him. But, he knew better than to bring it up by now, and kept his worries silently to himself, knowing deep down that the Volturi would be back. Jane had seemed more than eager to snap up the two of them at their last meeting right after the massacre of the newborns, and he didn't like the thought of Bella being vulnerably human the next time they dropped in.
The Quileute were less than pleased to hear about the wedding, but for the moment there is little to be done about the matter. Jacob ran off into the wilderness, with encouragement from Sam Uley, and has yet to return... The pack is growing wary now that their second-in-command has been gone for so long, especially because they now have lost contact with him -- which means he is either not transforming into his werewolf self or he has gone so far that he is beyond their reach. The Quileutes, particularly the ten involved with helping the Cullens battle the newborn army, are permanently on edge. They are waiting for the moment for the Cullen family to break the treaty, but they are not sure what they should do when that happens. Many mixed emotions are warring within each of them. They were all touched by Bella in one way or another and the thought of having to kill her once she changes makes a handful of them sick to their stomachs. Not to mention that all of them have recently seen the Cullen family in action, and the prospect of fighting all of them would most likely yield casualties on their own side as well.
All they can do is hope that Jacob returns to bring Bella back to her senses, but when and if that happens is still up in the air.[/SIZE]
